10 ways to strengthen your marriage

Marriage is a legal bond between couples that unites their lives legally, emotionally and economically. Once a couple decides to get married means they see their future together as a happy couple. It means they could stay together accepting all their flaws. But sometimes with all the effort also it doesn't work u feels like to be a part. Here are some worthwhile ways to strengthen your marriage.

1. Let your partner know you are thinking about them

If you want your partner to feel both desirable and desired, then at first make sure you are letting them know just how often they're on your mind. Besides a hectic work schedule sent some sweet messages to your partner which makes them feel happier and the relationship stays fresh even when you have been together a long time. Let your partner know you are thinking about them and putting them a priority. Also whenever you get time do routine maintenance on your relationship by planning a vacation.

2. Enjoy one another company

You may find it difficult to allocate one-on-one time with your spouse due to a busy work schedule, social commitments and other family members competing for your time. But making time to engage yourself with your partner can make your relationship stronger in the long run. One of the most important things to strengthen your marriage is to enjoy one another's company. When you start to enjoy one another company then the world seems smaller to you. 3. Explore common interest

Every couple has a different interest in everything but to strengthen your marriage try to explore common interests. Exploring common interests doesn't mean each partner will enjoy every activity but it opens up the opportunity for greater sharing as well as compromise. A common interest may include exploring a new place, trying new dishes, playing some online games, cooking together etc which brings couples closer and happier. You should always focus on treating your partner the way you would like to be treated. One of the quickest ways to show respect is by paying your partner a compliment. Our generation has idolized marriage as a happy life without any fights and thinks that one fight means the end is near. But in reality, every couple fights even the happy ones. Fight is common in every marriage but how fast you resolve to fight and forgive each other forgetting all the bitter feelings matters to have a stronger bond between couples. Forgiveness is a tricky but important virtue of marriage especially since no one is perfect. So, allow your partner to make a few mistakes as in future you will also make some of your own. Thinking about the future is good but always focusing on what's to come, and what's next to do will ruin your present. You won't be appreciating your partner in the low which leads to problems in the future. Before marrying each other you should analyse whether you can stay with him/her in the future or not and then after marriage without fearing about the future you should just live in the present happily. If you do so, then your marriage bond will strengthen stronger day by day.

Money is not everything in marriage but yes without money we can't fulfil our small needs too. Though it's not as important as a relationship it's playing a vital role to lead a happy life by fulfiling all the demands and needs of the individual. And money issues are one of the biggest factors leading to divorce. Keep your relationship strong by being honest about how much you are making and how much you are spending. A little transparency can go a long way. Based on your earnings you can manage all the household chores to fulfilling your needs on the budget. So, being transparent about your finances also helps to strengthen your marriage.

8. You should know that you are a team

One of the secrets to a happy marriage is knowing that you are in it together as a team no matter what either of you faces individually. But after marriage, everything should be faced together whether it is a good or bad situation. Knowing there is someone to hold on to bad situations gives you more strength to overcome every difficulty in life. As a team, your happiness gets doubled and your pain gets half.

9. Keep the romance alive

At the begining of marriage, we try to be romantic with each other. We schedule many plans, trips date nights and all to impress our loved ones. As time fades romance also fades and we don't give that attention after 5,10 years of marriage. But you should keep the romance alive. Being romantic doesn't mean you should plan a date night with a heavy cost. Even simple gestures like bringing home dinner, leaving some love notes or buying lottery scratch-offs can keep the romance alive.

10. Say no distractions when you are communicating with each other

There should be rules for putting your phone away when you are talking to your partner. Nothing breaks down communication more than having your phone in your hand when you are supposed to be listening. When you are having heart-to-heart with a partner make sure they are your number one priority. You should not turn the tv on and start a conversation, not the laundry in the dryer, and also not what's on your phone. No matter how many years you have been married focusing on each other completely when communicating makes you feel like you are in the middle of your first exciting date forever.
